Retro Interview W/Malcolm X

This is an old interview with Malcolm X I was able to find. These are very wise, well-spoken, and true words, from one of the most brilliant, and important people in not just american history, but in history PERIOD!...EVERY MONTH IS BLACK HISTORY MONTH.

Singer/Song Writer Amy Winehouse: Dead At 27

Sad news in the world of music today, as British singer/songwriter Amy Winehouse was found dead in her London flat(apartment). Winehouse struggled with addiction throughout her very brief career. Winehouse was supremely talented but, never reached her full potential due to her personal demons.
There is also eerie similarity in the fact that Winehouse died at the tender age of 27. As she joins such embattled, yet talented artists such as Jimi Hendrix, Kurt Cobain, Janis Joplin, and Jim Morrison in the infamous "27 Club"

Wrestler CM Punk speaks his mind about the WWE & its owner Vince McMahon

As many of my peers were I was a HUGE wrastlin'(wrestling) fan. Especially during the 90's when WCW and WWF(now WWE) were jousting for ratings, and fans. Back then names like Hollywood Hogan, Goldberg, Stone Cold Steve Austin, and The Rock were fan favorties. Although my personal favorite, and arguably the best wrestler ever was/is Shawn Michaels.
Now I've grown out of my wrestling phase, though I sometimes catch it in passing. But when I saw this video of a popular wrestler now, CM Punk spilling his guts, and true feelings about the "politics" of professional wrestling(if that's what you want to call it) I couldn't resist but take a gander. I found it so entertaining, worthy of the readers, and followers of the V's UP Ent. blog that I decided to share it with you guys.

Say It Aint So Shane!!!

So I was browsing the videos on one of my favorite sites, when I ran across one with my favorite boxer in the world, Shane Mosley. Only this one was nothing like any other Shane video I had ever seen, even in losing a match. This one showed video, and audio of "Sugar" Shane Mosley...asking to for his trainer Nazim Richardson to "throw the towel in". WHAT?!? Shane Mosley asking for the towel to be thrown in? The same guy who even in two defeats to the likes of Vernon Forest, and Winky Wright, two much bigger men showed that amazing heart we all know him for. Maybe though Shane realized that at age 39-40 he is not the same man that fought those two, that even in facing the much smaller Manny Pacquiao he could no longer dig deep, and at least put on a show for his, and the casual boxing fan without the risk of being seriously hurt. And if that is indeed the truth I think it is time for the first ballot Hall of Famer to walk away from the sport that he so long dominated.

Damn Roy!!!!

Does anybody else remember when Roy Jones Jr. was the most exciting, skilled, and perhaps best fighter you had ever seen? Well those days have long been gone, and now Roy looks more like a "has-been" than ever. Though he is not alone in this category with people like Evander Holyfield already there(despite his recent win), and others like "Sugar" Shane Mosley quickly walking him down is this race to eventuality. Here is proof that RJJ probably should have hung the gloves up long ago...

So the First Lady, Michelle Obama invited rapper/actor/poet "Common" to the White House, for a poetry reading of sorts, and the media(mostly Fox News), and the right wing(Republicans) aren't exactly happy about it. Here is a video of some gentlemen discussing the matter.

My(Altidude's) reaction to Bin Laden's death

When I first heard the news of Osama Bin Laden's TIMELY(keyword) death, I was just as surprised, excited, and proud as any American. Then, I started to analyze the situation like I often do, and before long my conspiratorial instinct took full control of my emotions. I couldn't help but think back to when former President George W. Bush had his own "great seizure" of another symbol of everything "Non-American" in Saddam Hussein. Then I thought about how eerily similar the situations were in that both President Obama, and former President Bush were fast approaching re-election bids against very hostile competition, in the opposing party, and waning public approval. Just how "perfect" was the timing of this event? It comes not even 2 days after President Obama jokingly(or not) took very critical, yet true, shots at Presidential hopeful Donald Trump, and maybe a week after releasing his birth certificate to the public.
Then something else happened, I changed the channel from the "Obama Friendly" MSNBC to the "Obama Detracting" FOX NEWS, and found myself once again a proud American. Not because their coverage of this very historic event was any greater than the aforementioned MSNBC's, but because I found myself having to defend my choice for President. Though I thought FOX NEWS host Geraldo did an excellent job, there were others who took this historic moment and made it POLTICAL! this is no time to attack your Commander In Chief, on POLITICS! I heard comments like, "The Obama Administration would be making a real mistake if they tried to take full credit for this, and not give fmr President Bush his due". Really? You mean the same guy that had let Osama Bin Laden completely fall off of the grid by the time he left office? Really? At the end of the day this is America, and never before have I been reminded of that more than on the night of May 1st 2011, whether in a good way, or a bad way.

My(The New Malcolm) reaction to Bin Laden's death

Is it morally right to find joy in the death of another human being?  The truth is I had many conflicting feelings regarding this news.

Fear of retaliation.
Wonder at the success of the operation itself.
Relief for those families that suffered losses.

But the overwhelming joy...truthfully, is due to the fact this happened on Obama's shift. Wether or not bin laden was the "mastermind" and "fiend" the media portrayed him as...in the eyes of the american people and (people around the world) this is and will forever be a great victory. You cannot consciously separate the milestones of this presidency from the man who is himself in office. (Despite the detractors best efforts)  This will always be a victory for Obama the Man. And thus it is a victory for me

Fight Camp 360 Pacquiao vs Mosley Episode 3

So as the date approaches(May 7th), watching this documentary only intensifies my desire to see this fight! I mean on one hand you have "Sugar" Shane Mosley, a former 3 division champ who's beaten the likes of Oscar De La Hoya(In his prime twice), Fernando Vargas(twice), Ricardo Mayorga(though I'm not sure how much credit you give someone for beating Mayorga), and Antonio Margarito. Being the first, and only person to even knock him down, and Shane took it a step further by knocking him out. Then on the other hand you have the man at the top of nearly everyone's "Pound 4 Pound" list(rightfully so or not), Manny Paccquiao, a 7 division champion who has beaten the likes of Juan Manuel Marquez(who some would argue won both of their encounters), Ricky Hatton, Miguel Cotto(who won a contested decision over Mosley), Antonio Margarito, Oscar De La Hoya(though this was clearly an "over the hill" version of the "Golden Boy"), and Joshua Clottey.
Everyone expects this to be an easy win for Manny, especially when you consider Shane's age(39), and the fact that he looked every bit of his age in his last two fights. A lopsided unanimous decision loss to Floyd Mayweather Jr.(who is p4p the best in my opinion), and an unimpressive draw with Sergio Mora. Fortunately for Shane other people's opinions of his skills, and his chances in this fight won't mean a thing when he steps in the ring come May 7th. So check out the videos below to get your juices flowing for what is honestly one of the last "big fights" left in boxing!

Muslim Leader Warns Against The Royal Wedding

I will not go as far as to call the man depicted in this video a "radical", or a "terrorist", because those types of names could be used to describe those who as Mr. Anjem Choudary describes, have "committed atrocities against muslims" for years. I will however go on record as saying that the situation here, and around the world has gotten out of control, and it is sad. More and more it seems as if the phrase "world peace" is just something people say for public relations purposes, as they really have NO interest, or no solution in seeing it out. Now the fact that this gentlemen is planning or knows of a plan to cause harm to innocent people is appalling, and despicable, but the points he makes about the western or "Free World" are just as disgusting. The worst part about this whole thing is that the real culprits or the leaders of both sides of the perpetual war will never suffer as much as the innocents they claim to be trying to protect.

CRIME: Murder In Miniature

CRIME: Murder In Miniature

While watching an unreleased video interview of the late Tupac Shakur(posted on my personal blog www.altidudedmv.tumblr.com), I couldn't help but notice a large picture of a boy behind Shakur with the caption "Robert "Yummy" Sandifer". Now being the HUGE Tupac fan that I am I can recall in some of his music him referring to a "Yummy". So I decided to take advantage of the internet and search engines and look this "Yummy" up. That is where I ran across this Time Magazine article on "Yummy" dated Sept 19, 1994. After reading the article, which is probably one of the saddest stories you will EVER read, I decided to share it with YOU, the followers of the V's UP Ent. Blog. so click on the link above and prepare to be shocked! I also included a video shot around the time of "Yummy's" death of people from his neighborhood including his aunt, grandmother, and the aunt of the girl "Yummy" alledgedly murdered.

The Next Time You're At McDonalds

C'mon black people! When are we going to get it together? This is not behavior conducive with us being taken seriously as a community. Nothing, and I mean NOTHING that takes place in a McDonald's should upset you to this degree. I mean I live in Northern Virginia where I would say at least 80% of the employees of McDonald's are of latin origin, and there is always a discrepancy with an order(nothing against latinos). But even with that they could NEVER upset me to this point. So the next time you're in a Mickey D's and something to go the way you expected or wanted it to, remember this blog post as the way NOT to react!..enjoy the video though this ish is FUNNY haha

Galaxy tab update

So it's been a few days...To say the Samsung galaxy tab had grown on me would be an understatement. It's true I have been marginally distracted by the release of gingerbread for the droidx, but I must admit the tab had fit seamlessly into my life.

Apps like Team Viewer and Webkey work wonderfully with the large screen. I'm getting more work done than ever before.

Hopefully Honeycomb will drop for the tab in a few days...check back for more updates.

My 1 day samsung galaxy tab review

I bought the Tab yesterday for 199.  I needed a laptop but couldn't see myself carrying something as big as a laptop around regularly. I constantly use docs to go and after a few minutes of using the tab in the store, I figured the 7-inch screen was big enough to do work comfortably.

Your probably wondering why I didn't get a Xoom.  At 599 I just couldn't pull the trigger. Ill have Android 3.0 in a few days with the help of the Modding community, and the price of the Xoom will inevitably drop. This is especially likely as other manufacturers release products with more enticing price points.

So I chose the tab, truthfully in spite of the specs. http://www.samsung.com/us/mobile/galaxy-tab/SCH-I800BKAVZW Again at 199 I'm thinking the tab will suffice for now.

Usability:  once you get used to its heft the tab is easy to deal with, but its definitely too heavy for its size. The screen is very responsive and the tictile buttons on the bezel are just sensitive enough.  These are things we expect from a major manufacture. The screen is wonderful. Colors are vibrant and crisp as Samsung screens tend to be these days. I am definitely disappointed that there is no proprietary usb port on the tab. I was looking forward being able to just plug in my keyboard.

Software: Thanks to Swype I don't think I'll ever actually need a keyboard. Android 2.2 is a great operating system, but its well known that 3.0 is the first Android OS designed specifically for tablets. The processor speed is definitely adequate and the minor changes made by samsung are intuitive.  It's definitely disappointing that I have a tablet but can't use the tablet specific apps in the market.  If you're willing to wait for samsung to update the device more power to you, but I only made purchase knowing I could make honeycomb happen sooner.   Keep an eye on this blog for a link to update instructions.

In summation the Tab is a good device but if you've got the money get the xoom.  If you
you don't mind a few shortcomings the tab comes at a great price through verizon.

Froyo, gingerbread, honeycomb

As an avid android user. I don't mind keeping up with the vast expanse that is the android landscape.

But here are  some questions every android user should ask.

What version of android does your phone have?

(Tip) It could be anything from 2.1-2.3 If your version is less than 2.1 are missing out on some of the most pivotal and useful changes to Android

What's your carriers track record when it  comes to updating android phones?

(Tip) This has been a contentious issue for the last few weeks.  Certain companies (mainly Samsung) are catching a lot of heat for not updating their phones in a timely manor. While others (motorola imo) seem to be turning around in this area.  Usually, the more popular the phone the quicker it gets updated.

How long do you plan on keeping the phone?

(tip) Your phone is out of date when you buy it. Sorry, that's just the way technology works. If you plan to keep your phone for awhile make sure you're looking for that most recent android version (2.3 as of today)  Luckily android is tending toward an OS that will rely less and less on carriers and manufactures. Its true driving force is the user.
