Damn Roy!!!!

Does anybody else remember when Roy Jones Jr. was the most exciting, skilled, and perhaps best fighter you had ever seen? Well those days have long been gone, and now Roy looks more like a "has-been" than ever. Though he is not alone in this category with people like Evander Holyfield already there(despite his recent win), and others like "Sugar" Shane Mosley quickly walking him down is this race to eventuality. Here is proof that RJJ probably should have hung the gloves up long ago...

So the First Lady, Michelle Obama invited rapper/actor/poet "Common" to the White House, for a poetry reading of sorts, and the media(mostly Fox News), and the right wing(Republicans) aren't exactly happy about it. Here is a video of some gentlemen discussing the matter.

So as you know it is "Throwback Thursday" on the V's UP Ent. Blog! Today's selection was made in the most interesting of circumstances, as I was writing a verse for my soon to be released "Audiobiography Vol. 1" I uttered a line about Arrested Development and their song "Tennessee". So here you have it. This week's "Throwback Thursday" pick is "Tennessee" by Arrested Development.

My(Altidude's) reaction to Bin Laden's death

When I first heard the news of Osama Bin Laden's TIMELY(keyword) death, I was just as surprised, excited, and proud as any American. Then, I started to analyze the situation like I often do, and before long my conspiratorial instinct took full control of my emotions. I couldn't help but think back to when former President George W. Bush had his own "great seizure" of another symbol of everything "Non-American" in Saddam Hussein. Then I thought about how eerily similar the situations were in that both President Obama, and former President Bush were fast approaching re-election bids against very hostile competition, in the opposing party, and waning public approval. Just how "perfect" was the timing of this event? It comes not even 2 days after President Obama jokingly(or not) took very critical, yet true, shots at Presidential hopeful Donald Trump, and maybe a week after releasing his birth certificate to the public.
Then something else happened, I changed the channel from the "Obama Friendly" MSNBC to the "Obama Detracting" FOX NEWS, and found myself once again a proud American. Not because their coverage of this very historic event was any greater than the aforementioned MSNBC's, but because I found myself having to defend my choice for President. Though I thought FOX NEWS host Geraldo did an excellent job, there were others who took this historic moment and made it POLTICAL! this is no time to attack your Commander In Chief, on POLITICS! I heard comments like, "The Obama Administration would be making a real mistake if they tried to take full credit for this, and not give fmr President Bush his due". Really? You mean the same guy that had let Osama Bin Laden completely fall off of the grid by the time he left office? Really? At the end of the day this is America, and never before have I been reminded of that more than on the night of May 1st 2011, whether in a good way, or a bad way.

My(The New Malcolm) reaction to Bin Laden's death

Is it morally right to find joy in the death of another human being?  The truth is I had many conflicting feelings regarding this news.

Fear of retaliation.
Wonder at the success of the operation itself.
Relief for those families that suffered losses.

But the overwhelming joy...truthfully, is due to the fact this happened on Obama's shift. Wether or not bin laden was the "mastermind" and "fiend" the media portrayed him as...in the eyes of the american people and (people around the world) this is and will forever be a great victory. You cannot consciously separate the milestones of this presidency from the man who is himself in office. (Despite the detractors best efforts)  This will always be a victory for Obama the Man. And thus it is a victory for me

Fight Camp 360 Pacquiao vs Mosley Episode 3

So as the date approaches(May 7th), watching this documentary only intensifies my desire to see this fight! I mean on one hand you have "Sugar" Shane Mosley, a former 3 division champ who's beaten the likes of Oscar De La Hoya(In his prime twice), Fernando Vargas(twice), Ricardo Mayorga(though I'm not sure how much credit you give someone for beating Mayorga), and Antonio Margarito. Being the first, and only person to even knock him down, and Shane took it a step further by knocking him out. Then on the other hand you have the man at the top of nearly everyone's "Pound 4 Pound" list(rightfully so or not), Manny Paccquiao, a 7 division champion who has beaten the likes of Juan Manuel Marquez(who some would argue won both of their encounters), Ricky Hatton, Miguel Cotto(who won a contested decision over Mosley), Antonio Margarito, Oscar De La Hoya(though this was clearly an "over the hill" version of the "Golden Boy"), and Joshua Clottey.
Everyone expects this to be an easy win for Manny, especially when you consider Shane's age(39), and the fact that he looked every bit of his age in his last two fights. A lopsided unanimous decision loss to Floyd Mayweather Jr.(who is p4p the best in my opinion), and an unimpressive draw with Sergio Mora. Fortunately for Shane other people's opinions of his skills, and his chances in this fight won't mean a thing when he steps in the ring come May 7th. So check out the videos below to get your juices flowing for what is honestly one of the last "big fights" left in boxing!
